Overview

An optical detection apparatus for capturing fluorescence signals from deep tissue, aimed at functional brain imaging that can run alongside MRI.

Light is collected through a microstructured fiber built from multiple solid waveguide cores separated by hollow tubes, then imaged onto a silicon photomultiplier array with each beam magnified to roughly one pixel. The design records dynamic signals from many channels at once while preserving single-cell specificity.
